And some new pics....

It's been a while

Sorry I havent put up any new posts, forgot my password, got in a fight with the google company, and had to eat breakfast.
But anyway, here I am, about to ramble on about the past few months to get everyone caught up. Ready, set, go......
Got a dog, gracie, golden retriever. Goats got attacked and eaten by coyote(s), took mason fishing on several occasions, drank a beer, mowed the lawn several dozen times, drank another beer, pulled weeds, bought a truck, trying to potty train mason, tyler and bri got married, witnessed it firsthand, drank more beers, got to see the entire family (drinking beers outta mason jars), went to idaho, went to california, drank a beer, installed surrond sound, cleaned out the garage, Brutus my old dog got put down, drank another beer......
The list goes on, basically it's been a long summer, and the highlight of it was spent in Cle Elum, Washington at Tyler and Bri's wedding. Absolutely beautiful weather, people and settings. The family was there, full of "Yeee Woooo's" Most fun I've had in a long time.
Now, Angie, dont put too much thought into the dog head on baby body discussion. I put a comment on your blog about it, but here it goes....Dogs lick themselves, so would you rather see a baby licking a dogs butt, or a dog licking a babies butt. AND dogs bark, babies giggle.
Amy, thank you for the cookies, ate them all in less than 24 hours, and the hand written note was very special. Love you to the moon and back, and you've become a young lady the entire family can be proud of.
As for everyone else, either come up with an interesting discussion point, or write me a letter, otherwise I will ignore you.
Nick
ps. oh yea, Ben.... nice puppy, but it's gotta be killing you. I know Angie, and her having to wait five weeks before she gets to take her dog home has got to be annoying the hell out of you.

Happy Memorial Day

Well, I hope everyone is enjoying Memorial Day. We live in the land of the free BECAUSE of the brave.
Figured out how to make my oven self-clean itself, so that was my entertainment for the day. However, my house feels about 90 degrees now. At least the oven's clean.
Been pretty stormy here, thunder, lightning, rain and wind. Last week it was 99, three days later, it was 39. I thought summer was here, but I guess I'll have to wait on the hammock and margaritas!
I've had an ongoing battle with my goats, as soon as it's finished, it'll be posted here, and believe me, it'll be worth reading. I'm not at all ashamed to say they outsmarted me, and once I caught on to them, a battle of wits started. Stay tuned.....

Getting caught up...

Well, it's been a while, so I'll fill you in on what's been going on down here. Beganning of May was Tyler's bachelor party, so we went to Sunriver (which happens to be near Mt. BACHELOR!!) I'd put pictures of that up, but it's just 6 guys drinking beer trying to catch some fish, honestly, that's all.
Mason has been working on his tan out in the backyard. The weathers nice, about 90 today, so we spend as much time soakin up the rays as possible. Bri's folks were in town, so Mas had to show off his knowledge of dinosaurs to them. Pretty much had everyone laughing and amazed. I've said it before, I'm teaching him everything I know, and by the time he's four, he'll be the one teaching me things.
It's been kinda grey down here. Steve found out he has cancer, started chemo (sp?) last week. If you can say a prayer or think about him, it'd be greatly appreciated. The police in town are shaving their heads to show support, and everyone has yellow wrist bands (guys dont wear bracelets) and yellow ribbons on their anteneas.
Guess that's all for now, nothing to entertaining, just another day!!!

And a good day to you!!!

Well, it's a beautiful Sunday today. We spent the better part of the morning playing baseball, then shot some hoops on the new basketball hoop. It's about four feet tall, but keeps Mason occupied for hours. The t-ball thing is amazing. Mason picked a foam baseball up, set it on the "T" and started swinging. I guess he's a natural. The only thing is, I've apparently been holding a baseball bat backwards my entire life. If you ask Mason, he'll tell you that it's supposed to be held by the fat end, and you hit with the skinny end. I don't know, he'll figure it out eventually. Gracie is learning the ropes. She went into heat about a week ago, so I have to keep an eye on her, otherwise, she'll roam around looking for a male. If anyone has dog diapers, send them on down. She's got another week and a half before she's done, then it's off to the vet to get fixed.
Well I guess that's all for now, gearing up for the weekend and Tyler's bachelor party. Here's hoping the weather holds out.
Oh, and to Uncle Donald. I am trying to figure out how to make it easier for you to post comments, I sent an email to Angie, but haven't heard back. I'll try Josh too, maybe some one can help me out. When I do get it worked out, I hope you can chime in with stuff you'd like to see pics of, or hear about. I'm gonna put some pictures of Tyler's latest work up soon, but if anybody wants anything else, let me know.
So long for now.

Happy B-day Angie

Well, it's Sunday morning. The sun is out, the birds are chir...what the heck, there's three inches of snow on the ground!!!! We've got a code white alert, turn off the sprinkler systems, no mowing the lawn today, and those tulips I've been babying, frozen solid. Oh, and it's starting to come down even harder. Good thing I threw away the old snow shovel, who uses one in late April........like the 20th. OH, happy birthday Angie!!!! The ol' 29er. Oldest cousin of all. Older than my dog in dog years. Older than any 28 year old. (ran out of stuff to say). Well, that's all for now, spent most the week working, cleaning the house, and now Mason is coming home. Yea!!!!

My other kids

Here's an update

Well since I don't have Mason this week, I thought I'd update everyone on last week and show you my other kids.

Last week we went on an adventure up to Portland. Mason got to go to OMSI and see dinosaurs, the Childrens Museum, and a fire station. Believe me, he had fun. My camera died on me though, so there aren't a whole lot of pics from there, maybe mom can get some down here for me.

We got back Saturday night, and Sunday morning, Mason had to look for his Nana and Papa, but realized we were back in Winnemucca, so we had to go check on the goats, and then on ALL of his toys, every single one. And when I say check on his toys, I mean dump them all out all over the floor and pretty much cover the house with them. It looks like a Toys'r'us that was in the path of a tornado.

Sunday afternoon, I got Gracie!!! She's a nine month old golden retriever, and just a cuddly ball of fluff. She already has a new boyfriend, Marty, and gets along with Bella. She's interested in the goats, but knows she's not allowed to help me feed them. It's nice to have a companion around when I'm by myself, and now I guess I'm not talking to myslef, therefore I'm not crazy.

The pictures I'm gonna post will include some of Portland, Gracie, Billy goat (he's brown) Baby goat (who's pregnant thanks to Billy goat) and Bilk Creek. Bilk Creek is our most common fishing spot, but I don't think we've ever taken anybody there.

Fishing day!

Well today I got up nice and early and headed out fishing with Tyler. We decided to try a new spot, about two and a half hours away in the middle of nowhere, kinda typical for Nevada. Unfortunately, Nick the navigator turned it into a three and a half hour drive. However, we found it and set to wettin a line.

I caught one decent bass, and that's really all that happened before lunch time. After lunch though, Tyler got a good one, then about two minutes later a monster. I'll post a picture of Tyler with his brand new pride and joy, but the picture doesn't do justice. It was a really large, beautiful Nevada largemouth bass.

Well, now I'm back home, getting ready to head up to Hillsboro on Monday. I'm gonna try and get as much packing done before I get Mason, so as soon as Monday morning comes around, we'll be out the door and on our way. Don't know if I'll get a chance to put anything new up while I'm back home, so be patient please.

Hasta la pasta!

Oh, and I think I might have a little sun burn. didn't notice that until I leaned back in my chair. Oh yea.

Find x

Beautiful Wednesday morning

Well, it's been a couple days since I wrote anything, so here's an update. I went to court on Monday, and it went extremely well. That's really all I want to say about that. Afterwards, I talked with Mom and Dad, Tyler and Jeff. Jeff came on over to my house and we had a couple whiskey's together in celebration. Monday was a long, but in the end, good day.
Yesterday after doing some work in the office, I set about getting my house ready for spring. Naturally, every drip-line system I built for my plants the year before, needed help. My sprinkler systems are all intact now, and the lawns have been fertilized. Now, if only I could get the weather to cooperate.
On a side note, I have been emailing and chatting with family a lot lately, and I want them all to know I really appreciate it. It's hard to talk to every one, and sometimes I just want to be left alone, but knowing that all of you are there, supportive, and ready to lend an ear, means a lot to me. I look forward to going to Oregon next week to see everyone, and of course being April, it's birthday time! Yea!!!!
That's all for now folks, tune in for another entry in the coming days.
Nick

Here's some recent pics

Wish me luck

Well, here goes....I'm gonna try my hand at this blogging deal, mainly to keep the world updated on Mason. He is growing, learning, and exploring at such a rapid pace right now, that by the time this paragraph is over, it'll be outdated. He can count to ten, sing the alphabet (if you say please) knows about seven colors, and can tell you the difference between a backhoe and an excavator, a loader and a dump truck. (All variuos tactors he plays with) Of course there are the animlas, the latest one's of interest being camels, kangaroos and snakes.
We had a circus come to town on Thursday, and Mason got to stand five feet from three elephants. Can't began to describe the look on his face. Then he noticed the funny lookin horses and we got to pet one. In a matter of five seconds, he knew the name of this animal, camel, and decided they "moo" like a cow. Later that day, while driving along the lovely Winemucca Boulevard, he said "Look daddy, a big M." It was those world famous golden arches of McDonalds.
Every day there is something new with this boy. Today is Sunday, he noticed it was snowing and then it turned to a little rain, and he pointed that out too. He figured out that horses, zebras, camels, and some dinosaurs don't have toes, and we call those kinds of feet hooves. Then we proceeded to look at every animal possible to see if they had toes or hooves. His fascination in things, it's hard to describe, but it's like he wants to larn every little detail of every thing as soon as possible. I'm gonna keep feeding him the knowledge I can as long as he wants it.
Well, gotta go for now, hope you enjoyed the first shot of my blog. I'll try to make this a daily thing and throw in some pictures to boot!
